Steps to apply for a visa for Germany through the consulate

Applicants need to find out where to apply for a visa. When applying for a visa from Germany to Pakistan, this could be the German embassy/consulate/visa center in Pakistan.

After applying for a visa, applicants must make an appointment for an interview, which can be arranged online or in person at the German consulate/embassy.

Participation in the interview is mandatory. The interview can last around 20 minutes. The visa consultant will ask you questions about your trip and inquire about the required documents.

The valid German embassy is only in Islamabad and frequent travelers do not need to make an appointment.

All applicants must appear in person if their fingerprints were not taken after November 2, 2015.

A frequent traveler is a person who has traveled to Schengen countries twice on two short-term visas within the last 24 months.

Applications must be submitted before 10 a.m. every working day.

Apart from making an online appointment for your visit to the Embassy in Islamabad or the Consulate General in Karachi.

Important information about the Germany visa

To enter Germany with a short-stay or tourist visa for a period of up to 90 days, Pakistani citizens need a visa in the “Schengen” category.

Pakistani citizens should apply for a Schengen visa stating their exact destination as the visa should be valid for all Schengen countries in the language of the issuing country where applicants are allowed to stay for up to 90 days.

All persons who provide visa services to an applicant and offer their visa services for the German visa process without permission from the Visa Department must be reported to the visa officer at the counter.

At the Embassy in Islamabad, all applicants are requested to submit an amount of PKR 500 at the time of application. In addition, this amount will be charged for the return of the passports by a courier service.

Applicants will receive a pay slip which can only be submitted to Standard Chartered Bank, Diplomatic Enclave Branch. The bank charges PKR 700 and reports the payment to the German embassy.

Documents required for applying for a German visa from Pakistan

To obtain your required German visa 2024, candidates are requested to submit the documents in the exact order listed below.

The applicant must sign the application for a short-stay visa. However, if your parents are minors, you can sign the application form.

The applicant must adhere to the photo specifications and submit two recent photos of the applicant with a white background with the application form.

Applicants must provide proof of accommodation showing confirmed hotel reservation. It is mandatory to present the rental agreement with your name and the duration of the rental stay, with dates clearly stated and a complete valid and authentic address detailing the entire itinerary as per the reservation.

The applicant's company/employer has signed a letter detailing salary, length of employment, authentic contact information including telephone number and address. The letter should also indicate the duration of the visit to the Schengen state or Germany.

Applicants who are students must submit an original signed letter from the university/college/school or other institution where they are currently enrolled.

The supporting documents required for providing personal income details, including original bank statements for the last six months, certificate of national tax number for the last two years and proof of payment of income tax provided by the FBR and payslips for the last three months .

In case the applicant applying for the visa is a business owner, attach the original bank statements for the last six months, the certificate of national tax number for the last two years and the proof of payment of income tax provided by FBR and the payslips of at last three months.

A copy of the Germany flight booking must be enclosed.

There must be a minimum of two blank pages in the passport. Please bring a previous passport if you have visited or traveled before. The old passport has copies of the application on A4 paper attached.

A photocopy of your ID card/CNIC is also required. In case the applicant has lost a previous passport, he or she must bring a police report stating that the passport was lost by the candidate.

If the embassy or high commission refuses to issue a passport for any reason, please attach a written explanation of the reason for the trip and a letter of refusal.

The NADRA-issued Family Registration Certificate in both original and photocopy form.

If children under 18 are traveling with a single parent, written consent from the other parent is required along with a photocopy of the CNIC.

Health insurance of at least 30,000 euros is required in the form of an original and a copy of a travel policy. However, health insurance must cover all hospital costs in the event of an emergency or deportation.

Schengen partners in Islamabad have already approved a list of health insurance providers in Pakistan, which includes many other firms like Adamjee Insurance Company Ltd., Asia Insurance Co Ltd., Askari General Insurance Company Ltd., Atlas Insurance Ltd., and Chubb Insurance Pakistan Limited.

All original documents not required by the embassy will be returned to the applicant when issuing a visa only if the applicant presents all copies of the documents. You must require Schengen travel insurance.
